Başakpazar Fuar ve Sergi Alanı is a large modern market and exhibition complex located in Başakşehir, Istanbul, Turkiye. Designed as a next-generation marketplace combining the convenience of traditional local markets with the comfort of a modern shopping center, the facility offers a spacious, hygienic, and weather-protected shopping environment for residents and visitors.

The complex includes approximately 8,000 m² of green areas and hosts 578 food vendors and 1,044 non-food retail spaces, serving a high volume of daily visitors. In addition to shopping areas, the facility features restaurants, cafes, entertainment spaces, children’s areas, and exhibition zones, making it a multifunctional public destination with continuous activity throughout the day.

Project background

Due to the facility’s large scale and high daily visitor traffic, maintaining security and operational visibility across the entire territory presented significant challenges.
The client required an intelligent surveillance solution capable of strengthening perimeter security during non-operational hours while also improving operational monitoring during active market hours. Key priorities included preventing unauthorized access during the night, monitoring parking violations in critical areas, and collecting accurate visitor flow data across multiple entrances.

The objective was to deploy a centralized AI-powered surveillance infrastructure capable of delivering real-time monitoring, automated alerts, and data-driven operational insights.

Solution

TRASSIR deployed a comprehensive surveillance and analytics solution built around intelligent video monitoring and automated detection. The infrastructure includes 115 TRASSIR cameras (TR-D8121CL2 2.8) supported by two TRASSIR NeuroStation 8800R/64 servers, ensuring reliable monitoring and recording across the facility.

The solution integrates TRASSIR Neuro Detector for perimeter protection and rule-based event detection. Using intelligent scheduling, the system automatically activates perimeter security during night hours. If unauthorized entry is detected, alerts are generated instantly, and connected devices such as loudspeakers or floodlights can be activated automatically to deter intruders.

Additionally, custom rules were configured to monitor parking violations. If vehicles remain parked in restricted areas beyond permitted time limits, the system automatically sends alerts to operators via TRASSIR Client, Telegram, or TRASSIR App.

To improve operational analytics, TRASSIR Neuro Counter was deployed across key entrances to accurately measure visitor flow. Automated reports are generated and delivered directly to responsible personnel via email.

The project was implemented together with ZNA Teknoloji.

Results and impact

Following implementation, Başakpazar significantly improved both security and operational visibility. The market management team now benefits from automated perimeter protection during non-operational hours, reducing reliance on manual security monitoring while improving response speed to potential incidents. Intelligent parking monitoring also strengthened operational control in key vehicle zones.

At the same time, visitor analytics provide valuable insights into traffic patterns across entrances, helping management better understand peak activity periods and improve operational planning.
