AI-powered monitoring of hotel parking areas

The global parking management market is estimated at $6.19 billion in 2026, while camera and license plate recognition technologies accounted for nearly 42% of the market in 2025. This reflects a broader shift toward parking areas that are monitored, automated, and managed through real-time data rather than manual checks alone.

For hotels, this is especially relevant. Parking areas have to accommodate guest vehicles, employees, VIPs, service traffic, conference visitors, and short-term arrivals — often through the same entrances and circulation routes.

Why hotel parking areas need greater visibility

Hotel parking is one of the first operational areas a guest encounters. A queue at the entrance, difficulty finding a space, or delays at a barrier can all affect the hotel guest arrival experience before they reach reception.

At the same time, parking teams and security personnel need to understand which vehicles are entering and leaving the property, manage different access permissions, monitor available capacity, and maintain records of parking activity.

The challenge becomes greater at large hotels and conference properties, where normal guest traffic can overlap with event arrivals, employee shifts, deliveries, taxis, and VIP vehicles.

How AI video analytics improves parking monitoring

Video analytics for hospitality can provide a clearer view of activity across key parking zones.

License plate recognition can identify vehicles as they approach hotel entrances and exits, compare them with configured vehicle lists, and work with barriers to automate access for authorized vehicles.

An ANPR camera system, using automated number plate recognition, can also log entry and exit events for later review.

Parking occupancy monitoring adds another layer of visibility by detecting occupied and available spaces, recording how long vehicles remain in the parking area, and providing information about current parking status.

Together, these capabilities can help hotel teams manage:

    • vehicle entrances and exit checkpoints;
    • guest, staff, VIP, and other authorized vehicle categories;
    • parking occupancy and available spaces;
    • vehicle entry, exit, and parking duration;
    • traffic peaks around events or busy arrival periods.

Instead of treating the parking area as a separate facility, hotels can incorporate it into the wider security and operational monitoring environment.

How TRASSIR supports intelligent hotel parking

TRASSIR provides the technological core for integrated AI-powered security and video surveillance systems, including hotel vehicle access control and parking management solutions. AutoTRASSIR supports license plate recognition and access automation, while Parking Analytics provides visibility into space occupancy and parking usage.

A good example is
Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center in Turkiye. The hotel wanted to improve vehicle access at its entry and exit points without replacing cameras that lacked built-in LPR capabilities.
Using TRASSIR VMS, AutoTRASSIR Parking INT, AutoUniversal Script, AnyIP, and NeuroStation, the existing infrastructure was upgraded to support automated vehicle access. The system enabled multiple license plate lists for staff, guests, and VIPs, automated barrier control, and notifications for selected vehicle categories. As a result, Hilton Istanbul Bomonti improved vehicle flow and checkpoint security while keeping much of its existing camera infrastructure in place.

From parking surveillance to smarter vehicle management

Hotel parking areas are more than places to leave a vehicle. They are access points, traffic zones, security areas, and an important part of the guest arrival experience.

By combining video monitoring, license plate recognition, parking occupancy monitoring, and automated barrier control, hotels can gain better visibility over vehicle activity while making legitimate access smoother.
For solution providers, this creates an opportunity to deliver parking systems that strengthen security while helping hotels manage one of their busiest operational areas more efficiently.
