About the project

Panorama 1453 History Museum was established to fully appreciate the cultural heritage, formed by the contributions of different civilizations, which is essential to understanding Istanbul's past, present and the spirit of conquest. The Panorama 1453 History Museum has opened its doors to visitors for the first time in January 2009 and has since attracted over one million visitors annually. It is located near the Edirnekapı, Topkapı and Silivrikapı Walls, where the most important moments of the conquest took place, and next to the gate through which Fatih entered the city - in this lush, tree- and flower-filled space now called Topkapı Cultural Park.

With its panoramic ceiling, sound effects and three-dimensional elements, the museum allows visitors to experience the excitement of Istanbul's conquest every day of the year.

Video surveillance in the field

The main objective of the project was to use a user-friendly VMS to manage the video surveillance system. In addition, the project also uses video analytics modules such as TRASSIR Neuro Counter and TRASSIR Direction Detector.

The fact that TRASSIR works with any brand of camera made it very easy to implement the video surveillance system, even though cameras from different manufacturers had previously been used.

Project objectives

•  Professional dashboards for counting visitors, the museum management collects statistics on the number of visitors on different days and time intervals;

• Ensuring safety, security and transparency when allowing visitors to enter the premises and during their time of visit.

In addition, TRASSIR solutions are also used to count the number of people entering during certain events and to obtain information on the average number of visitors.

Project results

The museum holds the distinction of being the world's first fully panoramic museum, a title it has proudly upheld since its opening by welcoming thousands of visitors. Such a unique establishment needs a high level of security for both staff and visitors. TRASSIR's main advantage lies in its compatibility with any brand of camera, significantly reducing the cost of implementing video analytics solutions for a customer.

We are planning to extend the TRASSIR solutions to similar museums in Istanbul and other cities in Turkey.
